The status of the galaxy

The galaxy has so many species that have achieved faster than light travel and reached its furthest corners. Many of these species try to form a central government to organize parts of the government but progress is slow, As of yet there are merely fifty species that have joined this central government but that is barely a government considering the size of the galaxy and the number of species contained within. The government still continues to expand, however, and at an eventual time in the far future, may succeed in unifying the entire galaxy but that is still many countless amounts of time away.
